One family, three houses.
Since my own curiosity goes a little nutty when people ambiguously refer to their circumstances but they don’t ever just explain what the heck is going on, I am just going to give you the brass tacks of what our life is about right now.
We live in a rental house right now. Our lease is set to end February 1, but we had started talking to our landlord about setting up a six month lease so that we could just stay put while our new house is being built.
The new house (we aren’t custom building, just to clarify we get to pick out some of the features for our house. We hadn’t set out to buy a house this way. God literally blew us away with His provision in this particular house and we are absolutely tickled and overwhelmed about it.) should be ready as early as May or as late as July.
A couple of months ago Austin started dealing with asthma (starting off with a scary and severe asthma attack in the middle of the night) which he hasn’t had since he was a young kid. As we have been researching why this would happen out of the blue, I came upon mold as a possible cause. We then remembered a part of our house that for various reasons is a likely candidate for mold. We pulled up the carpet on this part of the room and there it was in all its nastiness: mold.
So we decided not to pursue that extension of time for our current rental house for various reasons, obviously mold being at the top of the list. We started looking into what we could rent month to month since there is a chance that we could move sometime in May. God came through (duh) and we were connected to some people at our church that had just put their “for rent” sign in the yard of their new rental property that same day. We are moving our stuff to that house in a few days (we had 12 days to pack up our house).
What easily could have been a burden has become a source of joy. Not only is this house a step up from where we live now, but it will save us some money and we love our landlord! God provided beyond what we could have imagined. And how often do you open an email from your landlord’s wife that is filled with excitement and love, and discover that as you were praying that God would provide the right house for us, they were praying for the future renters of that house.
Our life is kinda insane but also just stinkin’ awesome.
So there you have it, the tale of the three houses: our current rental, our next rental, and our new house. 2016 you don’t play!
