No one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. Acts 4:32
What is The Generosity Project? A garage sale where everything is free with no questions asked. This is an opportunity to experience the joy of loving and living generously to meet the needs of others, to share our belongings and our hearts with those living in our own communities, with hopes of representing Christ’s love.
When? The Generosity Project will take place on October 5th from 4-6pm (location to be announced). We intentionally chose to set this time at an unconventional garage sale time of the weekend in hopes that we can avoid some of the professional garage sale shoppers out there. Although we will be reaching out to some groups and organizations that we feel would benefit from The Generosity Project, we still want to be open to the public. In our own experience, we have been so blessed when others have shown us undeserved generosity and so that is the same heart we want to give from.
Who is The Generosity Project for? The Generosity Project has dual purposes. Believers in varying degrees of physical abundance have the opportunity to live generously by giving away excess that is unused in their home. The second purpose of The Generosity Project is to provide for needs (and ‘wants’ that don’t fit into the budget) of any person in any kind of need, with no questions asked.
- Who can take? Anyone. Please share this information with anyone you like, feel free to forward this. We want others to take as they have need, so please share this information with that consideration in mind.
- Who can give? Anyone. Plainly put: the more stuff we have the better! We would love to see many people blessed by many people!
What should I donate? Please donate knowing that those facilitating will use their discernment on what is appropriate for this project. At the end of the event we will arrange to have The Salvation Army pick up any remaining items. As a general rule the best way to know if an item is appropriate is to ask yourself this question: Would I be embarrassed to offer this to a friend for free? If the answer is yes (because of the condition or content of what you are donating), then it would probably not be appropriate for this project. We want to give out of our EXCESS not our junk.
